3 Steps to Stop Hiding From Life and Start Feeling Better Today

I was talking to someone the other day who told me their spouse was furious with them because they sent a full body photo of their spouse with their kiddo to another family member.

Listen, I know this isn’t a new phenomenon. Women hiding out in photos. Ensuring only their face is being shown. Extreme close upCompletely hidden behind family members except for their head peaking out. Or flat out refusing to be in photos. Years go by without a photo of themselves being taken.

Making excuses to avoid visiting family members because they will see the weight you’re carrying. 

Avoiding phone calls because the weight makes you incredibly tired and it’s exhausting faking happiness.

Slowly withdrawing from hobbies that you enjoy and give you great fulfillment because you’re hiding from life.

I know what you’re doing. Your lack of self-esteem shines through so brightly. You may be smiling but I see your pain, shame, and embarrassment.

I believe this is the saddest part of it all. I see you hurting. I’ve been there. I know the depths of it. I know it feels like scaling a mountain and come on, your overweight, who wants to scale a mountain. It feels impossible.

Deep sadness which you may not even recognize because you’re shutting the world out. You’re protecting yourself with food and severing relationships because of your embarrassment about yourself.

 

The thing is, we miss you. And I’m betting you miss yourself. You miss that carefree feeling and not being terrified someone will snap a photo of you and paste it on social media.

It’s time to do something about it now. It’s time to stop hiding from life.

One day at a time. Nope, the weight isn’t going to fall off in two weeks. But nothing is going to change if you don’t start taking some steps to make healthy changes. Your world will continue to get smaller. You will continue to gain weight. The sadness will grow.

Many times it’s emotional weight. If you find yourself eating healthy, being active and the weight isn’t budging at all. Then it’s because you’re holding onto a lot of hurt inside. Unresolved anger, resentment and emotional trauma sit on you like a massive weight on your chest. You will be burdened by it until healing takes place.

I know the pain is there. I know the hurt feels insurmountable. But if you are hiding out and not enjoying your life because of your weight and how you feel about yourself then it is time to rise up and do something about it.

And it’s completely possible to get out of the darkness of shame and guilt about how you view your body.

Not only is it possible but you have to do it!

Small healthy steps add up and slowly peel the darkness away.

Here’s what you can do today to make a shift and get back in and start enjoying your life.

Because I can tell you this…if you’re hiding out…you aren’t enjoying life nearly as much as you deserve to. You are amazing. You bring something to this Earth that no one else does. Think about it. What are your special talents?

1. Grab a pen and paper right now. Seriously, go get it. Then answer these questions.

  • What are your special talents? Anything goes here and don’t hold back. Nothing is too small or big.
  • What does everyone say they love about you?
  • What do you love about yourself?

2. Do 1 small thing for your health today.

3. Write this mantra down. Then take a quiet moment, close your eyes, imagine the sun shining down on you and say this aloud. 

I deserve to be healthy. I will lose weight. The universe has my back.

CONCLUSION

Do these 3 steps every day for a week. That is how it starts.

That’s how a healthy lifestyle starts.

This is what self-love is. It’s loving yourself enough to begin.

To stop hiding from life and start living.
